Young & Restless Stuns Fans: Daniel’s New Love Interest Unveiled in Plain Sight – Did You Catch the Clues?

It’s been a helluva 24 hours for Young & Restless’ Daniel Romalotti what with his mother landing in a coma and the shocking discovery that not only did Sharon kill Heather, but she then turned around and framed him for the murder of the woman he loves. However, things may be getting better for the beleagured artist. His daughter’s home, his mom woke up, and he may not realize it yet, but his next love interest was just revealed!

Those who wished bad things on Daniel after he cheated on Lily and handled the whole thing terribly, should be satisified at this point that his karmic debt has been paid in full (and then some!). It’s been all downhill for the dude ever since. Not only did he lose his job, but he has now lost his wife, been arrested for a crime he didn’t commit, and faced losing his mother (for real this time).

Daniel will also have to deal with the guilt of knowing that Sharon went to the apartment to kill him, and that’s how Heather ended up six feet under. He’ll also have to go through the frustration of Sharon’s loved ones trying to downplay what he (and she!) believes happened that night, in order to try and get her a lighter sentence.

As Daniel agonized in his mother’s hospital room, however, he received some unexpected support from a very intelligent — and beautiful — lady. As he thanked her for her kindness and stabilizing words, it occurred to us that what we were witnessing was the very first moments of what could be a brand new love story.

Given that we’ve been so happy to have Brytni Sarpy back as Elena after an extended absence, what better way to keep her in Genoa City than with a new romance? So many soap opera love stories start with one person helping another in their time of need… we think Elena’s gorgeous shoulder is exactly the one for Daniel to lean on moving forward.

Of course they’ll be friends at first. Daniel has to process Heather’s death and grieve, but we sure hope Elena will stick around to be part of the healing. Once he’s ready for more than comfort, love can blossom.

That said, as Young & Restless fans are well aware, there’s a whole lot more to Heather’s death than meets the eye. Daniel will have more shocking truths to deal with down the road in the wake of Ian’s big reveal the other day. Who better to be by his side through it all than the devoted Dr. Dawson?
