Bold and the Beautiful

Bold & Beautiful Shocker: Sheila’s Explosive New Storyline Left in the Dark – What’s Really Going On?

Bold & Beautiful had on its hands a banner opportunity to evolve the character of Sheila from the merry murderess who’d just as soon shoot you dead where you stand as serve you a slice of pizza. And it let the chance slip through its fingers. WTH?

When the soap not only introduced Electra’s stalker Remy but had him start working at Il Giardino alongside the scourge of both Bold & Beautiful and Young & Restless, the scripts could’ve written themselves. She could have seen in him a kindred spirit. She should have recognized that, much the same way that she’s always been, he is singleminded to the point of being out of his mind. (Right, Scott Grainger? Eric Forrester? Poor, poor Lauren Fenmore?)

But if the show really wanted to reinvent Sheila as someone from whom every other character doesn’t cower in fear, it would have had her counsel Remy and warn him that she can see the path down which he is going — she’s walked it herself and knows where it leads. She could have actually done a good deed and helped steer Remy away from his obsession with Electra, gotten to know him and become the kind of wise mother figure that she’s always wanted to be.

Hey, Sheila’s blown it with all of her actual kids. So why shouldn’t she try, try again with a youngun to whom she didn’t give birth?

The storyline might have allowed Bold & Beautiful to dive into the past trauma that turned Sheila into such a monster in the first place. It also might have allowed Remy to be transformed into an underdog for whom we could root instead of an absolute creep whose downfall we’d welcome.
