Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Chanel Confronts Johnny and Sets Her Sights on Joy After New Year’s Eve Drama!

On today’s Days of Our Lives, Stephanie wakes from a dream of making love to Alex for Philip to happily greet her in bed with a “Happy New Year.” Steph recovers, but Philip notes that she seemed to be having an intense dream. She feigns ignorance, but Philip is pretty sure it was about Alex.

Stephanie fesses up, and Philip says he made a mistake and wasn’t able to help her get past Alex. She stops him from running out, but Philip knows she’s not over Alex, while he’s genuinely interested in her. He wants a relationship. Stephanie acknowledges she has residual feelings, but he does with Chloe, too. They both want to move on. Alex is her past and Philip is her present.

It’s enough to calm Philip down and have breakfast together. He slips on an apron, makes some eggs, and they sit down to eat. Stephanie is suitably impressed with his cooking skills. They talk a bit about him rejoining Titan and he’s thrilled she has faith in him.

Alex and Joy wake up awkwardly in bed together, but she notes the good news is he isn’t married. But she does wonder if she’s stepping on him and Stephanie. He assures her there’s nothing and hasn’t been anything in ages. Plus, she’s with his cousin. He fills Joy in on their backstory, then his and Stephanie’s. But he and Stephanie just aren’t compatible and they need to move on.

They agree this is an awkward conversation after a night together, and get back to kissing. They get dressed after they finish, and Joy starts looking at her lines for the next day. And… they’re with Faith. Chanel’s not going to be happy. Alex thinks Joy was in a no-win situation and assures her she’s a tough cookie.

Johnny shows up at the Body and Soul offices, surprised to find Abe there on New Year’s Day. He tells Abe Chanel is gone. Shortly after, Johnny tells a stunned Abe what happened. Then, to make matters worse, he tells Abe the woman he cheated with was Joy. Abe’s furious, but Johnny promises it was before she even tried out for the show. It was just a coincidence, but he thought Abe should know — it’s completely over, though. Along with his marriage, probably.

Abe tries to reassure Johnny they can still save it, but Johnny doesn’t believe that. He screwed up over and over. But when Abe notes he slept with Joy, Johnny corrects him. “Maybe you were more clear headed than you thought.” Johnny says he just couldn’t betray her, but he did that the second he walked into Joy’s room. And now he doesn’t think Chanel even loves him anymore.

Abe reassures Johnny again that Chanel needs time — and he needs to put in work. Johnny’s willing to do whatever it takes, and thanks Abe. He doesn’t hate Johnny, but Paulina might be tougher to win over.

Paulina’s surprised to see Chanel come out of the guest room and asks why she isn’t home with Johnny. “Because. I left him.” Paulina’s stunned and wants to know what happened. “What didn’t?” She lays out Johnny’s infidelity to her mom and how he got revenge on her for something she never did. Paulina just stares when she’s told he cheated with Joy. Them being complete strangers when they did it makes things even worse for Paulina.

But when Chanel says they didn’t have sex, Paulina just looks at her. “Well… why are you so upset?” He still fooled around with her, Chanel snaps. She tells her mom what happened, and Paulina stutters a bit. It sounds terrible, but… But nothing, Chanel says and goes off on how horrible Johnny was from the moment he thought she was cheating on him. Paulina just looks shocked.

Shortly after, Paulina’s all in Chanel’s court — there’s no excuse for Johnny’s behavior. She’s so sorry Chanel’s going through this. Today’s the first day of the new year, maybe she should shower and get dressed and she’ll feel better. Chanel goes to do that, but doubts she’ll feel better.

Gabi and JJ wake up in bed together and gently kiss after they both agree they’re glad he stayed. They’re interrupted by something shattering downstairs. They rush down, JJ with a tennis racket in hand, threatening and Javi cowers on the floor yelling to not kill him. He sees who it is, apologizes for breaking the bowl and says he was making pancakes.

JJ introduces himself to Javi’s delight, who notes they seemed to have fun last night. They get to breakfast and trade details on what they each did for New Year’s Eve. Javi went out alone and is acting weird and Gabi knows the look on his face means he’s thinking of going back to Leo. He runs off and teases them not to do anything he wouldn’t do while he’s gone. Or do.

In the show’s final moments, Gabi and JJ enjoy their breakfast together where she congratulates him for surviving “Hurricane Javi.” They flirt a bit and when they both realize they’re free, decide to spend the day together.

Philip dresses and tells Stephanie that he’d love to stay, but he’s got to head into the office. Xander’s probably there already. They kiss goodbye in her doorway, just as Alex shows up to see them. Philip greets his cousin with extra cheer and assures Alex that he and Stephanie really enjoyed their New Year’s Eve. He runs off and Stephanie and Alex wish each other Happy New Year.

Abe gets home, saying he needs to talk to Paulina and they compare notes between Johnny and Chanel. Paulina doubts Chanel can forgive Johnny anytime soon. Back at the Body and Soul office, Johnny toys with his ring, gets out his phone and calls his wife. Chanel answers in the Horton Square, tells her husband she has nothing to say to him and hangs up.. She then turns and sees Joy sitting at a bench, reading lines. “You on the other hand…” She stomps over to confront her.
