Bride And Joy: Y&R’s Devon (Bryton James) and Abby (Melissa Ordway), who tied the knot last year, will get more air time in the coming weeks.
Melissa Ordway, who began playing Abby on Young and Restless back in 2013 and drew headlines last year when she revealed on social media that she had been taken off contract, has had quite a busy week: She filmed a guest-starring role on Blue Ridge: The Series, then jetted to Los Angles to resume taping at Y&R.

The actress confirmed her comeback in an Instastory photo, which depicted the Y&R studio lot and was captioned, “Guess who’s back…”
The news of her shift from contract to recurring player broke in November 2024, on the very day that her character, Abby, tied the knot with Bryton James’s Devon, coinciding with Y&R’s landmark 13,000th episode. The actress made it clear that she hoped to continue working on the show, noting, “I’m still playing Abby. I’m just not guaranteed episodes and can work on other projects. I’m still a part of the YR family and pray they continue to let Abby be a part of all the things in Genoa City. Trust me, I hope I’m still there all the time! I think they’re just focusing on other characters and storylines.”
Before heading to Charlotte, North Carolina to shoot her appearance on Blue Ridge: The Series, the actress posted a video on Instagram that she captioned, “Pack with me to go film in NC and LA 🎬 Heading out of town to work on a couple super fun things… can you guess what it is?!” Now, it seems clear that the L.A.-based gig she was referencing was, indeed, a visit to Genoa City.
