We’re used to seeing our favorite characters with their various significant others in daytime and in the real world, many of the soap stars are hitched to theirs. While Xander has had a rollercoaster romance with Sarah over the years on Days of Our Lives, his portrayer, Paul Telfer, has been happily married to actress Carmen Cusack since 2012.
Who Is Carmen Cusack
The American theater actress and singer played Elphaba in the musical Wicked during its Chicago, North American Tour, as well as Melbourne, Australia’s production of the show. With multiple Tony Award nominations on her resume, she also played Gilda in the 2023 film American Fiction and appeared in four episodes as Sabrina in the television series Sorry for Your Loss.
Where Their Romance Began
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Telfer admitted he had already had a crush on Cusack before friends had asked them to do a table read together. Knowing she was going to be late, he made sure they were “one script short” of what was needed and that the only place for her to sit upon her arrival was in the empty chair next to him. They ended up sharing a script, “flirted a bit,” and later on, she returned to find that he had been the only sober person to talk to among their friends. “We spent the rest of the evening becoming better acquainted, then shared a cab home with inebriated friends,” Telfer added. “I walked Carmen home, and instead of kissing me good night, she bit my ear. We’ve been together ever since.”

In May of 2023, Telfer shared a five out of five star review for her debut album Lay Your Hands on Me.
Birthday Wishes
And in April of 2022, the actor posted the cutest photo of his wife “trying to shush” him up but he managed to alert everyone that it had been her birthday and shared, “Love you darling — so glad we get to be together today!”
A Cause Close to Their Hearts
Then a year prior, they joined forces and asked fans to “help us support a cause that’s very close to our hearts!”
