Go Backstage at The Young & The Restless With Judah Mackey!
The talented young actor Judah Mackey shared with fans a backstage peek at a typical day playing Connor Newman on The Young & The Restless from driving into the studio parking lot all the way to walking on set to join his co-stars and tape their scenes.
“A typical day on [Y&R] begins with an early call time,” Mackey shared. “When I arrive, I go through security, enjoy a light breakfast, and head to wardrobe to ensure everything fits perfectly. Afterward, I go back to my dressing room to rehearse my lines before the blocking session. Then we do a rehearsal and are set to tape!”
The video that Mackey shared begins with a POV shot from inside a car pulling into the parking lot at Television City, the complex of studios where Y&R, sister soap The Bold & The Beautiful, and other shows are shot. There’s even a reserved parking space with his name on it! After a quick wave to the camera, the young performer enters the building and invites viewers to join him on a behind-the-scenes look at a day in his life as an actor on Y&R.
After trying on some costumes in the wardrobe department, Mackey is then seen in a dressing room working on a laptop on an analysis of the book Little Things Are Big by author Jesús Colón. “While working [on] set, three hours are dedicated to schooling,” he revealed. “I’m very grateful to ICL Academy for allowing me to pursue my passion for acting while still receiving a top-quality education!”
Then it’s time for a visit to the hair and makeup department so that Mackey is camera-ready to navigate his way onto the Crimson Lights set where he joins co-stars — and TV parents — Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) and Mark Grossman (Adam) to do their scenes.
